Swine Flu
I am sick of hearing about his with the half information they give us.
I think it might be better if they told people to be worried, then they might take better hygiene precautions.
People are dying from this thing and there is a wonderful idea to have Swine Flu parities, to get it over with. That's fine for the really healthy people, but who might you pass it on to. AND do you know if you have an underlying health problem??
I am desperate not to get it. I just don't need any more migraines.
when I had the flu at Christmas i had a terrible head for days.
Also I have FMS so I might get it worse with a lowered immune system....
Will somebody please level with us all....

MOH/Rebound. I dont think so.
Because of a really nasty stomache bug over Easter, I have had to be very careful what I take for my pain.
Whilst waiting for a blood test result re an ulcer (seems I dont have one), I tried to manage on no over the counter pain killers, and just Triptans for the migraines.
I went 15 days and only had 2 Excedrin/Anadin.
8 days and then 7 days.
This is much less than normal for me.
It was hard to cope but it showed me one thing.
How on earth can I have MOH?
They tell you that the drugs you take are the only thing that helps the pain and it comes back when the medication wears off. It seems that you take more and more, as the efficacy diminishes.
During this 2 week period, I had just as much head pain as ever, and wasn't taking the drugs.
I dont think I will give much thought in future to MOH. If I can go all that time without the drugs and not get any relief from the pain. I think that lets me off the hook.
GOOD!! There is enough anxiety with migraine without having to worry about how to get out of pain. None of us want to feel we might be making ourselves worse.

Butterbur/petasites/Petadolex
I am going to try Butterbur as a preventative.
I have been waiting for my gut to settle since the bug, but it is taking so long, I think I will just go for it and hope it doesn't upset my tender tum.
Its a toss up between Butterbur and Q10 at the moment.
After some Kinesiology which gave me a recommendaitn for Q10 i am unsure.
But I think on the whole the Butterbur is a bit more hopeful.
Managed 8 days without Triptan so that's an improvement on every other day.
So anyway if you have tried either and have some feedback....please don't be shy...

Reiki
Has anyone tried Reiki for migraines?
I am taking part in a case study with a Reiki master.
We both want to see what if anything occurs.
Like to offer feedback from anyone else as well.
Thanks.

Rebound/MOH/CDH
Who has MOH please?
How do you know?
What did you take that caused this?
Did it turn out to be daily headache but not caused by medication?
How did you deal with it?
If you stopped or cut back medication.
Did your head improve?
Has is sustained or did the pain return?
PLEASE comment. We all need to get our "heads" around this one.

Migraine Action, Migraine Day
Well I made this. I was 90 minutes late, but I managed to go and stayed until the end. That was a mistake because it wrecked my head.
the venue was not the best, rooms stuffy and when they opened the windows lot of noise in from the street below.
The lunch was lousy. Tofu sandwiches and some with cheese...for migraineurs!!!
For me it was too long at 6 hours, and they should have started later, 10am the earliest. I spoke to others there, and they all concurred with these points.
Lastly the hotel needs to get a toilet cleaner!!!
Talks were good. Nice to speak to Drs Andy Dowson, and Paul Davies in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Also met a couple of local people and some others I may keep in touch with.
Did I learn anything....not really.
But it was good to share experiences.
If you are reading this, so far. Please comment. Migraine is such a complicated problem and the more we all band together the further we will get with a remedy, hopefully some day a cure.
Don't be shy, i don't care if it isn't a positive comment, but I cant really see the point in reading this if you never say anything, so please do.
thanks.

Keeler Method
I have bought a book which comes recommended on a forum I use.
It is written by a Neuro who has migraines.
I haven't managed to read much yet because of my silly head
BUT, what I have dipped into looks good.
I hope it will help me.
Will keep you posted, whoever you are...Ha!!

Telcagepant
All of you with migraine will have heard by now that there is a new drug coming out. This unimaginatively named Telcagepant is into its 4th stage of testing, so near to release I h ope.
It sounds hopeful. As good and btter than Triptans and useful as prophylactic as well as abortive. Also seems to have a longer half life.
Can't wait.
Does anyone know more....please share.

Neuro appt.
Well I am looking forward with some trepidation to an appointment I have been given to see an apparently good Neuro in Northampton. He comes highly recommended.
I am not getting my hopes up too much because I did that last time and the guy was not even interested in me. Cant be any worse I hope.
I am sweating on being well enough o the day, but committed to getting there.
its about a 90 minute trip.
So just 5 weeks to wait and I so hope he can help me.
